GRS & Jnr, IO and Ganymede.

20:00, so temps may be still falling, but if you can grab it, it will be a treat!!

Good luck all

Thanks for the heads up Dave, I struggle to see the GRS, but I haven't given up, thats why I am in the market for a bigger scope.

not quite on starry night and it is 1/2 fast i reckon. i will do a visual...... 2/3 of the way to transit for the GRS, yup starry night is aprox 1/2 hour fast

ambient 1.9 degrees, mirror 3.1. it is going to be a close thing.

seeing with tube currents is 4/10 at the moment

I over estimated the seeing, pretty bad at present. Yup, tube currents.

I'm there! Well, i'm here! Out in the cold, though not as cold as Tasmania.

Ambient 6,1 mirror 7.0.

Seeing at least 6/10, platform is behaving (so far) and I've captured 3 avi's.

Hoping for a good night to continue.

GRS is closing to transiting the meridian.

So far so good..

Had 5 minutes of pain when I was about the throw the platform down the hill but I found a way for it to start working properly again.

5 avi's captured, Ganymede the pimple has just squirted out from behind Jupiter. Seeing looks pretty good so far. I can see shading on ganymede in the raw frames as they're being captured.

Captured 6 AV's so far. 3 with both moons visible. I make it 3-4/10 seeing, so I don't hold much hope of getting any stunning finals.

Grrr! I'm watching the 2 moons fuzz in & out of focus like there was someone twiddling the focuser knob while I'm capturing!

I'll be lucky to capture detail on Jupiter, never mind Ganymede Mike!

I've got Ganymede sitting nice and still frame to frame.

5fps, white meter at 220, looking good. 9 avi's in the bag.

This *could* be a 8/10 night - won't know until they're under the processing microscope.

I feel for ya John.. but i'm happy as a pig in mucky stuff.. first night out in 2 weeks!

Just joined the party - a bit of a late entrant. Scope outside cooling off now, but the seeing looks fairly poor in Brissie. Hope I haven't missed the show, as I won't be ready to image for another 30 mins - need to set up laptop, attached JMI focuser, acquire Jupiter, focus, plug in ToUcam etc.

Good luck to all Jupiter hunters tonight!

Cheers

Dennis

Ahh, just had a look at the jet stream map - Brissie is in the green and yellow bit so that explains the poor seeing. Or should that be the Green & Gold for the socceroos - good luck to the boys.

Mike – I just made Narelle a cup of tea and there is no requirement for me to watch TV so I’m off outside again.

Cheers

Dennis

10 avi's, that'll do me.. I'll be busy processing them all day tomorrow anyway.

Off inside.

Good luck to those still out!
