The planetary gods are probably annoyed at your current fixation with things solar, LOL.

That's thin ice John,

It takes a brave man to challenge the weather gods. Maybe if you submitted and apologized with many "hail Astro-gods" You may have some clear skies.

Cheers

Indeed guys! I think I've angered them! Blowing a small gale & mobs of cloud *gulp!*

Ok, I apologize...& will sacrifice a ..... Like Trevor suggested!

On second thoughts....I'll be satisfied with no Solar for a couple of days!

I normally sacrifice a few beers, seems to work.
You may have missed the perfect opposition point for Saturn but I think it's going to be pretty good for a few months yet.

I hear ya! Every time we've wanted to go out astrophotographing/observing, CLOUDS!

Skippysky is looking very promising tonight though, fingers crossed because I am dying to do some astronomy after a long time without observing! I can't wait til winter is in full swing! Less sunlight and more time for observing on week nights!

The weather and seeing where I am has been near-perfect for months. We've had the best summer, ever. (Or at least since I've lived in these parts.) Of course it's turned to crud now, though, with snow forecast for tonight. Ah well, can't complain, it's been so good.

*continue rant*

As it nears new moon, the clouds have begun to roll in again...Had an almost perfectly clear night Friday night (though the seeing was a bit iffy at times) and I'm fairly sure Saturday night was just as clear but decided to stay in as I was really tired from the night before. ALL that time I said to myself "I'll be well rested Sunday, I'll observe Sunday night" and then the clouds rolled in...

Looked like it could have been a nice night last night until the wispy high cloud swept in and made everything look like murky soup

Tonight is looking no better! *sigh* Skippysky says Saturday night is looking good so far, fingers and toes crossed for a clear new moon!

+1 Shelley.

I had my new setup out on Saturday, but all manual operation as I didn't have the power supply wired up. That got done on Sunday just in time for the clouds to roll in.

Yep, it's been cloudy all week! Had a bit of clear skies last night but cloud kept crossing what I wanted to observe and then it started raining...

It wet my appetite but now it's forecast for cloud again tonight, grrr!

Someone had to keep the rant alive And seeing how cruddy the weather has been, I need to rant!

I did a voice recording last night of my observations and in it I described the "seeing" last night as merely this: "crappy poo bum". Not very intelligible but you get the point

if everything fails http://events.slooh.com (I guess by the time the sky Gods learn about the Internet and computers, it will be too late for them to stop you from watching it online )

And isn't it just great how the mornings have had partially clear skies and by the time night rolls around the cloud is back.

I did manage to get out once this week for a short time before the next cloud display. I'm still very much in the learning phase, so making mistakes and fixing them takes up most of my time.

I know! The sky is mocking me for sure, it isn't fair! It was raining before but now it's sunny again, oh sky, PLEASE bring us some nice weather for Saturday night.

Glad you got some observing done, even if I don't find anything it's still nice to be out under the stars But it's always nicer when you get to find goodies without dodging clouds

I always think I'm going to get attacked my possums or the random giant sounding creatures crashing through the bush next door I'm getting use to it though, slowly but surely...
