Saturn 15 April

It was a good night for Saturn in my neck of the woods. Good seeing and no wind. It's produced my best image so far. It's not that there is more details than in the previous one, but it's substantially less noisy.

I really need to get myself some RGB filters!

ASI120MM + x2.5 Powermate
640x480 resolution
45 fps
700 frames stacked

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric

Great work mate!

I am just down the road from you at Seaford Rise.

But that's about all my imaging has in common with yours, as my recent attempt at Saturn is quite sad in comparison.

Keep up the good work.

Looks like you will be moving up to the big boys group by the sounds of the supports/comments of your work.

Regards

Gav

Thank you very much guys for your encouragements. Even if I was lucky enough to get a good picture I am still pretty much a beginners as far as AP is concerned.

I have found Jupiter such a struggle this year, but Saturn has been a joy so far.

As to getting filters, well I still haven't acertained if I have enough focus on my stock SW focuser to allow for a filter wheel.

Cheers,

Eric

Gavin, do you belong to a local club?

Nice sharp image, Eric. Definitely go ahead with the filters. You can always move the mirror up the tube a little. Loss of peripheral illumination won't mean much for planetary photography. You can probably manage a slightly larger image scale too.

G'day Eric

No I don't at the moment, do you?

I don't think there is much down our way in relation to groups. Most activity seems to be in the north, I am aware that ASSA has an observation site in Tooperang but that's about it!

I did mention in one of my earlier posts in a different post/thread that I would be interested in starting a group or a local get together by Southern Adelaide Astronomers, as there seems to be a few on IIS.

But didn't get much interest.

May be I will start a new thread to see if I could gather any interest further.

Regards

Gavin

Well, I have signed up with the Flinders Uni astro club, but no meeting has been organised so far.

I wouldn't mind meeting like-minded people in the southern suburbs. I would be happy to be part of a get together if you want to organise something. If not I'll be happy to meet you.

Cheers,

Eric

Hi Eric

Ok I will make a post and see if we can get any more people in the area to meet up too.

I will make a new post under "Star Parties, Club and Community Events".

Regards

Gav

Very nice shot. As others have said, colour would top it off.
