Some shots from Katoomba Airfield

These are some of the better shots that I managed last night at Katoomba Airfield. It really was a great night, sharing views of countless objects through the various scopes that were there. A couple of us experimented with various ISO settings and exposure lengths. We also had the unique opportunity to use an aircraft as a foreground object with the milky way rising behind it.

All these shots were taken using my Canon 60D with the Sigma 8-16mm lens @ 8mm. Most are 60 second exposures and I think one was a 120 seconds.

Looking forward to seeing the results everyone else got from the night and getting back out there next month! Might try a time lapse next time.

Cool shots Jason I really like the first one with the propellar and the Milky Way, my other favourite is the third with the plane. Well done!

I like the plane one too! I didn't know they still had planes on it while you were there

Cheers guys, yeah Mike well this was only my second time out there and that plane was just off to the side of the concrete slab we observe from. Figured it was kind of a unique opportunity to get the milky way rising over a plane in an airfield.
