Celestron CG5-GT mount (tuned)

Hi everyone,
I have finally bitten the bullet and reguire a bigger mount for heavier payload. I was very reluctant because i need a mobile setup, but oh well.

This mount is 1 year old and the latest version of the CG5-GT and has the ball bearing equiped head, firmware 4.16 and steel heavy duty tripod. It has the wonderfull any star polar alignment routine, which is great for imaging.

In addition I spent a great deal of time tuning the mount by stripping the head down completly, cleaning, de-burring and polishing all moving parts. I then re-assembled the mount using high quality synthetic marine grease with PTFE. I spent hours optimising wormgear position to reduce backlash, whilst not binding motors.

I am a plant fitter/mechanic by profession, so i used my experience to get everything precise.

Unfortunantly i didnt run any PE analysis before and after but by observing the PHD graph it made a noticable difference.

The mount is in great condition and would suite anyone that is after a more back friendly mobile setup.

$800
Im located in Perth

The first 2 astro photos are unguided and using the hand controller polar alignment routine, which gave me up to 4min exposures.
The other 2 are guided, also using same polar alignment softaware.

cheers Jason

Hi mate max payload is 15kg
10" dob may be pushing it, it may be
Ok for visual but definently no good for
AP.

But yeah 10" dob is defenently pushing it.
I would say no it wouldn't handle it.

I have had a lot of interstate interest. I'm now considering
Posting via courier at buyers expense.

I have used e-go couriers, they are cheap especially depot to depot.

Pm for more details
