I've seen Prometheus three times, and not sure if I want/need to see it again, but I similarly find myself thinking about the story from time to time. Part of the problem, IMHO, is that it's too grandiose a story to comfortably pack into 2 hours. Another part is the de rigeur time/space compression that all sci-fi movies suffer from, but seems more problematic here given the scale of the story. And finally, the (you can almost hear the studio executives saying, "no, no, we need more gore and explosions") action and horror sequences aimed at the lowest common denominator and, consequently, even more implausible than usual.
I had this thought about Prometheus yesterday: the "big guys" are so white they're almost transluscent. Seeing as how homo sapiens evolved in Africa and originally hard darker skin, isn't that kinda racist?
I've yet to see Oblivion, but, given the reviews I've read, expect it'll be a two-view affair: cinema and, a long way down the track, a DVD rental.
