IISAC pics

A couple of photos taken last weekend at IISAC.
Both were taken through a Pentax K-5 DSLR with a 50-135mm DA* f2.8 zoom (at 135mm).

As you can imagine the Orion Nebula picture is a pretty severe crop of the original frame. It is a DSS stack of 11 x 25 second subs at ISO 2200.

The Eta Carina is a single 25 second frame at ISO 2200. Although I seem to have largely fluked it first time round with the Orion picture, all my other DSS stacks seem to remove nearly all of the colour. I've got a lot to learn about processing. Comments and advice most welcome.

Thanks Laurie. Zoom lenses probably aren't ideal for astrophotography (and I'm still a fair way from being able to step up to the ED) but I'm making slow progress

Pete, nice attempts indeed. Dont worry when you start stacking in DSS you will lose the colour, you bring it back with the saturation.

Thanks Carl.
I tried bringing the colour back using photoshop but to no avail (mind you I don't really know what I'm doing there either )
