Saturn, 10th April 2013

Hi all, some reasonable seeing this morning for a while, coinciding with a view of the dark vortex in the northern hemisphere.

Here are a couple of RGB images and a 2-frame animation.

ps, as has been noted elsewhere, Saturn is a very difficult target to get both pristine rings and also enhanced detail on the globe. I've been struggling with this for years, and still don't have a sure-fire way to get them both right at the same time... the rings are artifact-magnets, any problem in seeing will cause double edges or ghost images that are very obvious and pretty much impossible to remove after the fact.

cheers, Bird

Great capture of the hexagon storm and also the small dark spots moving in your animation. Thanks for posting.

Nice Anthony. I am sure I can see some scalloping in the lighter belt where the black spot is present. Nice resolution.
