Meade Audiostar... how to align?? Hits mount every time
I'm not new to stargazing but I am new this this computer controlled mount and I can not figure it out! I have set the Audiostar computer to know that I am in Australia and then I do the two star alignment. I have tried the first ten stars it automatically picks to align to (starting with Sirius) and eventually slews right into the mount then goes in circles again and again and it won't stop slewing (even though the instructions swear if you press ANY key it will stop the slewing). I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong? Why will it not slew to a star that's actually in the sky (there's plenty out there!) and why does it just keep going in circles? Plus I've given up after trying to align after the first hour and just used the telescope as a telescope to check out the cool stuff above me only to find that the electronic controls work only until you decide you want to get the planet right into the middle of the viewfinder then it randomly starts slewing around somewhere else without asking! Has anyone else had this problem or am I just unlucky? Thanks for any advice in advance!
