Some Pardalotes and a Superb Blue Wren
I don't normally post in this section, but what the hell.
Dipped out on the forty spotted I was hoping for, but these blighters weren't camera shy.
Canon 40D, EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM.
1/160 shutter speed. ISO 500.
Cropped. No processing.

Yes, aren't they cute. Wrens are pretty common but the pardalotes are moderately uncommon. About 5 years ago I had a pleasant surprise. I was sitting at my desk when a pardalote flew in the window, perched on my monitor for about 10 sec and then flew out again. Of course I didn't have a camera in my hand.

Pardalotes are beautiful birds, not timid at all.
I see them frequently when walking my dog in a nature reserve close to home.
They nest underground, digging a tunnel into an earth bank. We sit and watch them coming and going.

Thanks all for your comments. I'll keep trying for the 40 spotted.
