NGC 3621 reprocess

I've been fiddling with this one a lot and eventually decided on a complete reprocess. I think this version is better than the original post. Better colour balance at least.

Cheers

Steve

Nice one Steve; some good details in there and you've captured some Ha regions in the galaxy as well! The only other comment I have is that the faint outer regions of the galaxy look a little noisy in the full res view on my screen; but given that you are working at f/9 that is to be expected even at those exposure times (215 mins at f/9 would be similar to 66 mins at f/5).

I think the colour balance is much better than your first version Steve.

Cheers, Marcus

Thanks Marcus. Yes I stuffed it up the first time.

Thanks David. Yes you are quite correct about the noise. This is a deceptively difficult galaxy and needs a lot more exposure to get the faint bits. I think Martin's version had about 40 hours of luminance. Incidentally I only had 145 minutes of real luminance. The rest was synthetic.
