Meade 16" LightBridge truss tube dobsonian telescope

Dear Iceinspace forumites,
Up for sale is the Meade 16” LightBridge truss tube dobsonian telescope. Selling due to moving overseas. I am the second owner of the scope. Local pickup preferred, due to its size and weight, or buyer to arrange courier for packing and transportation. It is sad for me to part with it but I am sure it will offer you many years of enjoyment.

The scope is in a very good and original condition unmodified. It is stored disassembled in my shed when not in use, covered with plastic sheet for protection from dust and insects. The primary mirror is always covered with the plastic cap when not in use. Frequency of use is about once every two months. The optics is in excellent condition; the primary mirror collected some dust but could be cleaned if you want to. I have never tried taking it out and cleaning it, as the view through it is not affected at all. The gaps of the mount are filled with white silicon as protection from moisture during night sky tour. Movement of the mount is smooth.

The dark sky site is where the LB16 will truly shine, however most of my observation sessions were held at my backyard. The LB16 performs beautifully, giving bright, contrasty and crispy nebulaes, star clusters and galaxies views. I especially use it as galaxy hunter, though I also like planetary nebulae views through it. The light gathering power is immense, point the scope to Virgo and you would find the dark sky be littered with tiny little faint fuzzies.

I will throw in Astrozap light shroud, a laser collimator, a red torch, 1.25" moon and blue filters and a 20mm Kellner eyepiece with it. You will need to acquire other eyepieces separately.

I am asking for $1,700 for the whole package. PM please.

Here is Meade’s description and specification of the LB16:

Diffraction Limited Optics. Meade optics consistently outperform telescopes of similar and larger aperture. Consumers know that "Meade Optics Inside" means that what they see through our telescopes will be views that are detailed, crisp and full of contrast.

Meade Optical Coatings. Aluminum Coatings with magnesium fluoride over coat provides bright images full of detail.

2" Crayford-Style Machined Aluminum Focuser With 1.25" Adapter. Smooth precise focusing is achieved with this classic design. A unique focus tension knob and focus lock design gives complete control over focus.

Steel RA Roller Bearings. Roller bearings make movements smooth and effortless.

Built-In Primary Mirror Cooling Fan. Bring the telescope into thermal equilibrium quickly and efficiently with the battery powered cooling fan. The fan is mounted to the rear of the "vented" primary mirror cell for fast cool down.
Reticle Red Dot Viewfinder. deluxe finder to adjust to your observing needs.

More picture

Please have a look on the assembled view of the scope. I just had a session with it last weekend at my backyard. Ghost of Jupiter, M65 and M66 (two of Leo's Triplet) were easy at my light polluted area.
