Jumping Jabiru

Heading home for lunch I saw a pair of Jabirus in the swamp raced back to grab my truck with the 60D and 400mmL lense.Put it on the tripod camera on automatic and snapped away.This is a quick collage of jpeg crops I set for the raws as well so may have some better shots down the track some are sharper than others. I quickly put this together in Picasa.This is the first time I have observed two feeding usually here its just a lone bird.It has an eel tailed catfish in one of the shots and as I was leaving caught a small mullet.Its these sought of things that just make the day that much better.Note the female has the yellow eye.

Very very nice. That 400mmL is a great lens isn't it? [I got some OK shots of Ganggang cockies on the weekend with mine - but they just wouldn't pose nice.] You might improve things a bit with the raws, though your exposures and lighting are pretty good right now. I tend to find a very small amount of unsharp mask can help.

Ron they are infrequent visitors to Brunswick Heads usually see them on the sand flats every few years. This pair just happened to be close to the road.
David I purchased this lense after seeing the results those on this forum had it really is good value and even works OK with a 1.4extender.

Thanks Dereck,The last time I saw one in my neck of the woods was about 18 years ago.
I only saw a couple in Kakadu when I was there a couple of years ago.
