Renato Langersek has organised a mid-week Star Picnic for Brisbanites - details below.
For those trying to recognise the name, Renato was the person who contacted Andy Thomas as he flew over on the ISS during last year's Astrofest.

Hi everyone
As per popular demand I'm holding another Star Picnic on Wednesday June 7th. There will be a gibbous Moon which will enable us to get a good look at Rupes Recta and Spica will be very close to the moon for special effects ;-) Jupiter should also be spectacular and Saturn will be setting in proximity of the Beehive cluster.
This time the Star Picnic will be held at Col Bennett Park, Algester (Brisbane UBD: 219 Q15), we will start setting up at 18:30 for a relaxed viewing till 9PM or maybe even longer ;-)
Bring along your telescope, camping chair, picnic hamper, .... and join us in a good evening of observing and mingling.
