First M42

Here is my first serious attempt at processing M42 using DSS and PS CS2. Despite the Trapezium being slightly burnt out (at the expense of bringing the fainter nebulosity "to light"), I'm happy that after only 8 minutes with a combination of 800, 3200 and 6400 ISO, I'm starting to see colour and fainter nebulosity.

Images have been dark subtracted only.

Thanks

Thanks Harley, later I will combine the 6400 ISO exposures as the background layer and use the 800/3200 ISO frames as my foreground and layer then merge into a single image. Hopefully I can work out how to do that!

Cheers!

Cool - I would personally stick with lower ISO's and stack longer exposures - Ive found that even with a fair amount of LP, you can compensate for the loss of contrast. Im still a beginner in this area as well, so I would be interested to see what results you can get.

Is that taken with the 8 inch ACF?
