C9.25<>Meade 14" shootout round two (Jupiter May 26th)
G'day.
Seeing last night was shocking; 3/10 I reckon. Jupiter was showing us the big 'heave-ho' {massive undulations}
Lester & I shot a few AVI's anyway, trying all sorts of combo's: no barlow/no extension tube etc. My best scale for the night with the C91/4 2X barlow no extension tube.
We tried dfferent frame rates too: 5FPS/10FPS Different gain/gamma settings etc.
Interestingly enough, by far my best AVI for the night coming from an experiment @ 20FPS
Yep, we have some nice onions in this shot & plenty of speckle etc...
Ok....Lets see your best from last night Lester Ol' Boy!!

Hey Asi, for 3/10 seeing that's kickin along nicely - great colour too. Do you and Lester notice much difference in seeing between your respective locations?
cheers,

Your seeing looks very similar to mine here in canberra almost all of the time.
You've done well though to get the detail you've got, and nice colour

Hi Rob, Asi here on Lesters computer.
As the crow flies were 15 k's apart & no, we have not really noticed different seeing conditions. Lester is also 150 m higher than my position.

Ok I'll give it a go.
I don't think the resizing helped your image quality Lester, Still looks good, but decidedly less appealing than the first set. That's not saying that any planetary scientist wouldn't have given his left ......... big toe for images like that a very short time ago.
Seeing of course plays a big part in this so unless you are going to take comparison shots at the same time, same place, same image scale, etc it isn't going to be a valid comparison. But
for taking the effort and trying even a subjective comparison.
Order of preference.
1. Lesters small images 10 fps then 5 fps - sharper images
2. Asi's images 5 fps then 10 fps (I'd say seeing stuffed you on the second Asi) - more detail visible
3. Resized - Better size but the detail is smeared out, for me.

I was once taught to never answer a question with a question, lester, especially when it's not your question to answer....
Asi ... did you buy it or is it on loan?
But out of respect for your question I'll say I have no idea what they're worth ... which is why I asked the question.

You'd never make a good politician then Matt!
One must always answer the question with a question...baffle-the-brain-with-bull-twang & all that..
Seeing you had the decency to ask the Q 3X, yeah it's on loan.
