Advice on first scope

Hi,

My mate is after his first scope and has asked what do I think of Saxon F15012EQ3 Newtonian Reflector Telescope. I am almost keen to advise him to get either an 8 or 10 inch dob as I think it would be a better starting scope. Any advice would be great.

Mark

The 150mm Newt on its EQ3 mount is a great scope at a good price but EQ mounts can be a little hard for newbys to master without some one showing them how they work ( maybe you Mark ? ) .
I have seen so many people put off astromony over the years because they grabbed the 1st Eq mounted scope that came along and did not know the 1st thing about how they work , its a sad fact I'm afraid .

99% of people here will say , 'Go the Dob ' , way easier to use , and more aperture to boot . .
Brian.
