Eta Carinae close up 25/1/13

Hi All,

Playing around last night with the fullish moon up and the new CLS 1.25" filter on the Atik, checked out Eta Carina for fun.

Attached is a JPEG of the 10 x 5 min exposures with darks and flats applied.

Full resolution png photo is here

Cheers

Chris

That's a nice image , Chris. Does the CLS filter make a lot of difference?

Yes Laurie, it seems to bring out the Ha regions a LOT more and makes it much more contrasty than without it.

Especially when the moon is around, like last night. It worked a treat on my unmodded DSLR (using the EOS CLS Clip) so I decided to buy the 1.25" version on Icetrade recently for the Atik.

It's great and there seems to be no blue cast like you get with the DSLR, possibly because there is no UV/IR filter on the Atik.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Ross,

The Atik 314L+ is one little ripper of a camera. I'm stoked with its performance :-)

Cheers

Chris
