B&W Carina
After seeing my hero (Federer) do well in the tennis, I wandered outside to see what the clouds looked like....
 it was clear! ..... but also pretty late.
I figured a 1/2 hour or so of imaging would not ruffle dometic affairs too much and avoid my being put in the house of the Canis Major.....
So, yet another, ho-hum eta-carina resulted.
Still...it's such a cool object

Fantastic result for 30 mins after the tennis. Such a big field, full of interest. I love the sharp detail in the centre and the delicate, billowing cirrus effect in the top lobe. Crying out for some colour.

So much detail and sharp as a tack. Superb.
Images like this remind me of the first time I saw NGC 3372 through my 12" DOB and a borrowed 13mm TV Ethos at the dark skies of Hazeldean, SE QLD. Star n Car had two tiny lobes, which the owner of the Ethos called the 'fried eggs'. It was one of those jaw dropping moments that I will never forget.

Thanks, but it's a very bright object and doesn't need much exposure to look good. Colour?  Think I might have one of those lying around somewhere....

Thanks Steve, it's actually a 2 panel mosaic, 50% res. Each expoure was 15 minutes straight (no subs).
But more than just fast optic I think may be going on here: high QE camera + low noise, really stable focus and guiding also helps

Peter,
Does the AP 305 come with any tip tilt adjustment for CCD array orthogonal error? Tip tilt is a absolute necessity for the little RH200 f/3 scope. Now I know why I could never get my 12" f/3.6 properly collimated with my STL. I was batteling a tilted array with no way to adjust it.

A beautiful photo Peter.
Very sharp and detailed and I love the way you process the B&W...amazing tones.

Peter, ho-hum, yes I agree, it's just really average indeed. Well, you know you have a lot of good pals out here who would love to help you out and take that terrible scope off your hands. 
Eta Carina is a magnificent object, and for 30mins of data, your image looks great.
