TUSB3410 Boot Device

Im really mystified. Came back from and interstate trip to find that my Toshiba Satellite laptop to which my Losmandy mount is connected via a keyspan serial to usB device is no longer working. I downloaded the latest driver for the Keyspan serial to USB device but it says that the TUSB3410 Boot Device has no driver. Huh ... all was working perfectly as I was running win7 32 bit and now it says there is no driver for this device under win 7.
Im completely stumped and tried to download a win7 driver for the TUSB3410 Boot Device but keep getting these crap downloader thzat want to be instazlled on my laptop which I wont install as they look bogus.
Why has it suddenly decided it wont run under win7 whereas previiously all was ok. I even did a restore point on the laptop to where all was ok but to no avail as under device manager it says the TUSB3410 Boot Device has no driver.
Can anyone assist me to get this driver?

I assume when you did the system restore that you chose a date far enough back?

Also, if you boot in safe mode, does the driver load? Could be a conflict that's cropped up...

probably its gone south - do you have another lappy to try - or phone a friend who lives nearby to test on their machine? to rule out yours of course and if it doesnt work then its the hardware in the unit

Good idea, though I can't imagine the USB ROOT hub going all of the sudden, as this would be trapped during boot and flagged as a failed device.

I think the driver not loading is a failure to recognize the device ID. Seems odd, but then again, Micro$oft...

Restore point was far back enough and I started the lappy under safe mode and the tUSB3410 device came up with an asterisk next to it as no driver.

Just unplugged the Keyspan usb2serial device and took the one off my dome control which is an aten serial2usb and the mount started working OK. so its the keyspan device which has gone nuts and not recognising the TUSB3410 Boot Device. WTF????

From the keyspan site this message
The 'TUSB3410 Boot Device' item in the Apple System Profiler or in the Windows Device Manager means that your Keyspan adapter is defective. If you are in the US, we ask that you contact Keyspan directly for an immediate replacement of your unit. If you are outside of the US, please contact Keyspan for a distributor in country that will replace this unit for you.
Have to contact Keyspan guess

Same thing Alan. The TUSB3410 is the embedded controller inside the RS232/USB device.

Glad it works now.

Well it doesn't work ATM as its dead and I will have to buy another one to replace it. I have two Belkin serial2 USB devices as they don't work with win7 and so are useless. I really hate PCs and their stupid drivers and ports.

+1 for hating ports on PCs.

I am still using an ancient laptop with serial ports or a desktop with internal serial ports for that reason.

Point of order... hate the O/S, not the PC...

I've never had a problem with my Linux boxes... (2 servers, 1 media station).

As for my Win7 comp... I finally solved a nagging problem with the desktop not refreshing whenever I changed something (always had to hit F5 to refresh it). Turned out it was related to my ATI Video driver. Reset it to factory defaults, presto!
