Update of pier.

OKay more updates, top of pier is almost complete, just cosmetic stuff now. Here are a couple of pics.

The spring washers will be changed to flat washers, when I get my hand on them.

G'Day Andrew,
Might sound a silly question, I was thinking of putting a pier in the back yard for my LX90 and making a cover for it,so as I can park it,save having to align each time, will you be putting your pier in a concrete slab? or just sitting it up as is. Thanks for any info

More updates 24th May

OKay threw all the parts together to show the guys at work what it will look like when sort of finished. Just a couple of little problems to solve like distance between the top of the pier head and the bottom of the pier head. With the bolts in the picture spacing is about 80mm. Whats a good distance?

I need to get some threaded rod I think for this as the bolts I have at work are either too big or too small or dont have enough thread.. The lower bit of the pier head is actually two pieces of 10mm plate welded together, making it 20mm thick! Not my idea the guy doing it thought it would look nicer. Hey I have no complaints if it's stronger. Weighs a ton already The whole thing will be treated with anti-rust stuff before a base paint being applied then the realpaint, either that or I get te while thing powder coated? Except for the aluminium which I will get anodised later..

Anyway thoughts on spacings greatly appreciated.

Your pier looks great the spacing looks OK as well
I used 19mm SS rod & nuts on a 200mm steel pier with welded 300mm sq. top plate and another for alignment
both plates are threaded to take the rod with the SS nut for locking in place once leveled

It' solid as !!
