Who says you need an expensive camera? 6 image panorama with a point and shoot???!!!

Last night. The little camera that can - the Sony RX100. This is a largish 1 inch diagonal CMOS chip in a point and shoot compact body that is creating large waves in the camera industry. Retracting Zeiss compact lens. 30 seconds, ISO6400, F2.0, Long Exposure Noise reduction on, manual focus, Polarie tracking (naturally it handles the light weight of the camera effortlessly).

I thought I would put it on my Vixen Polarie I had setup using my Nikon D800E.

I thought it held up pretty well. It could do better if I stopped it down more and did longer exposures and perhaps ISO3200 instead of ISO6400 but I think the image shows what it is capable of. A 6 image panorama of the Orion area.

Remember this is a point and shoot that sells for as low as $575 on Ebay:

Surprising for a point and shoot - or should I say more complimentarily a compact.
