Mosaic silliness!

Hi,

It's been too hot to do any decent imaging with an unmodded DSLR.

So i thought I'd do some short exposure wide fields with the intention of making a mosaic. I chose the LMC and SMC with two panels, I tried to stitch it together in DSS, would'nt work.
Realised there was not enough overlap, really needed another panel.

So I thought, I'd run it throught photo stitch that came with my canon camera. It did a good job of blending them even though it's not correct.

A bit of fun anyway.

Equipment.

Skywatcher ED80, orion mini guider, orion field flattener, HEQ pro 5 mount.
Unmodded canon 1100D, piggybacked nifty fifty lens, 2 minute subs at iso 800, total 10 minutes, each panel.
Stacked in DSS and processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Allan!

Can't wait for some cooler weather to take some longer exposures for a redo.

Imagine that mosaic as a mural on your wall, it would be beautiful.

Nice looking result Justin. A bit lacking in red but I guess that's the price you pay for an unmodded DSLR.

Cheers
