Spica occultation

Taken at 6:12:36 hrs EDST this morning (about 10 minutes after sunrise) - in a sequence of frames at 15 second intervals. D7000 1/800th sec ISO 200 TV 127. Spica is at approx. 4 o'clock position.

7.95 oktas of cloud precluded any proper look at Spica's reappearance, but I did capture it probably shortly afterwards in a brief thinning of cloud.

My first look at an occultation...

Spica occultation

Thanks for the photo Chris.

We had clear skies here in Hobart with significant smoke haze but with surprisingly good seeing and transparency. So I had an excellent visual observation of the disappearance and reappearance.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for the pic! It is surprising how few bright stars pass behind the Moon.
