Orions Sword in 3nm NII

Managed to get 10x16 minutes in 3nm NII of M42 and made a mosaic with the earlier Horse head data. There is a mismatch at the overlap but it gives an idea of what is possible.

Large image 5MB

I am finding that gradients are still a problem even with 3nm filters.

That mosaic shows what a massive amount of dust is prevalent in this area. A great image Bert, thanks for showing.

That's titanic Bert!!

So much in this image to look at, and even though I'm using a dslr with no filters or modds I'm going to have a go at some of these area's.

Do you mind if I downlowd your image for reference?

Cheers,

Justin.

Amazing.
I've never seen a wide-field Orion shot like that before.
It is very well done.

Thanks for the comments all. There is nothing like seeing a well known object in a totally new light.

I am still exploring what the new system can do. Nearly every new image has some surprises.

Justin I put up high or full res images for anybody to use in what ever way they want. Images in a locked drawer are useless.

For people wanting to use any of my images commercially I generally only want acknowledgment with the published image.

Anyone on IIS is welcome to print any of my images for non commercial use. In fact if you ask I will supply the best resolution image available.

Bert

Fantastic.

I've found mosaics really difficult at f2, due to really struggling to get my collimation tight into the corners, I've ended up having to overlap a lot more than I had hoped.

You've sold me on NII filters, I'm saving up for one...
