Eclipse from Palm Cove

Setup at 5:00am on the beach at Palm Cove. The cload cover was patchy. Missed the first 15 minutes of the eclipse due to cloud. From then on, the eclipse was spectacular...Palm Cove really turned it on...
While I did not take my solar telescope and mount, I did have my trusty Canon 40D with 250mm Telephoto, Tripod, Thousand Oaks Filter and other paraphanalia. Luckily, through the many cloud breaks, I was able to capture the complete eclipse from start to end, except the first 15 minutes. Totality lasted about 2 minutes, there was great clapping and cheering during totality. The beach was full of tourists, literally thousands. I will be returning home in about a week, so probably will not be able to post photos until then.

I heard that on the police scanner. The cops were complaining about the number of people at Palm Cove and Wangetti beach. We stopped on the highway side and setup telescope just north of Palm Cove, there were 3 cars. Man it was beautiful.

We had a cloud pass over during totality but we saw the ring. Didn't have time to photograph it though.

Bit late here, but was also at Palm Cove. Camped on the side of the road with about 5 or 6 other cars full of people. Great view, apart from the clouds.
