WARNING Presumably a new? clever type of HOAX email

Got this email this morning purportedly from Spamcop.com
Quote:
Dear {my email address removed}
Today 06/12/2012 we received complaints about spam coming from your network. Spam bots are sending bulk emails, for the security reasons your email will be blacklisted. To avoid blacklisting please check your Sent folder for unknown emails and prove that you are human by entering this code 5437 here. {hotlink removed}.
Your email will be recorded and spam flag will be removed. No other data will be collected.

Thank you for cooperation.

SpamCOP SBL.
Suspicious,
And quick check revealed such an organisation does exist and does blacklist suspected spam address.

But they are SPamcop.net NOT Spamcop.com

I did a search here and could not find a similar thread, so I thought I would post as warning.

I'm guessing it's a neat way to verify your e-mail details (and perhaps they have harvested other information about you) as a prelude to either more spam or something more specific.

Have a look at www.capitvemedia.com. It immediately redirects to www.virtualpoint.com

"Captive Media - Performance Marketing Solutions"

"Connecting Quality Clicks to Conversions
Captive Media connects your visitors like never before. Reach out to a massive audience using the power of internet to build a business spanning the globe."

"Founded in 2006 in Irvine, California, Captive Media delivers the newest and most exciting interactive solutions for the public. Our content is now enjoyed in every major market around the world."

I'm really excited. They look like another marking spammer.

Maybe Cisco reckons it isn't worth the money to get the spamcop.com domain off them.
