Light pollution from Sony A 37

A friend of mine uses a Sony A 37 on a tripod for night imaging.
He does not know how to turn off the **%##@ light from the screen that remains on all the time.
Is it possible for the screen light to be turned off?
And how?
Please

Ken, the A37 manual says the LCD brightness can be set from the setup menus, but doesn't appear you can turn it off. From the setup menus you can set the Viewfinder/LCD button to manual mode and then use the button to go to Viewfinder mode.
