Jupiter tonight - looking good

Ganymede, lack of jetstream, the grs, well fingers crossed.

Having reinstalled starry night, for some reason, GRS transits are more accurate, i would say less than 1/2 hour out.

Good luck with it Dave. Isn't looking too promising here for the Jetstream.

Re the GRS. Most ephemeris (don't know about SN) are using the GRS on Long 103 deg for their calculations. The Long was updated to 109 deg on the 28th of March. This will add 8 min to the transit time. However on 16th May I measured it at 113 deg. That adds an addition 16 - 17 min to the original 103 Long times. The current GRS transit is 0:37:00 (103 long) plus 16min. If you use Jupiter2 it is currently accurate with the GRS Long at 114 Deg and timing at 00:53:00

Hope this helps your timeing.

David, I've just looked out my window. Clouds everywhere.

Good luck!

Go get em David,

Nothing like a bit of crisp cold Tasmanian air to freeze Jupiter in its tracks.

Good luck.

Jupiter was GOOD here tonight!

Still battling my tracking, but found a sweet spot along its motion where I was able to keep it steady.

Above average seeing, captured for 140s for most of them.

Dave, I even used the extension tube for some of them! Man, image scale was huge.. much harder to keep on the chip, especially with my dust motes and tracking battles at the moment! But I got some.

Nice Ganymede transit, too.

Mirror temps were within 0.7deg, avi's look good!

Running through ppmcentre and netpbm tools now.. when I wake up, they'll be ready for registax!

Night all.

I really hate school work! Because of it and bad weather, I havn't had a chance to get under the stars since the 5th of may - and the pics I took then weren't any good, so I have to go back to like the 20th of April until I can find my last good session! Exams will be over in a few weeks, I'll be back into it by then!

Glad some of you had a good time out tonight (last night?). Looking forward to those images mike! Now time for sleep for me as well...

Hey Dave and Mike

Don't keep us waiting too long for your Jupiter results - Brissie had this thin, wispy high cloud associated with some pretty bad seeing, so nothing from the Sunshine State. Gee, Jupiter looked tiny on the screen compared to May 4th at opposition.

Cheers

Dennis

jelly jelly jelly

i got 1 avi shot off!

I am starting to believe that the hours before 3am are not conjusive for a nice atmosphere. The mirror is cooled, the jetstream non existant, but the temps are nowhere near the forecast minimum before 12pm.

Lower level atmosphere is the issue!

bugga!

Sorry it's a few minutes late Dave

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=10266

There might be better avi's in the rest, I just processed the first from the night.
