Forgotten 15min image

I totally forgot I snapped some quick frames of the Tarantula for a laugh on my first light night at my new dark sky site nearly a couple of months ago now...nothing special but given it's only 3X5min it's quite remarkable how much has shown up (details under image)

Full Frame

100% close crop of the Spider

I'll call it a work in progress...but I'll likely do it differently once it is a fully fledged project image

Yeah, I am continually amazed at what CAN be extracted from as little as a SINGLE 5 min sub!

I did M45 last night - just 8 subs - and it is really quite nice. Not yet APOD nice, but... (I can dream)

I was going to do it tonight myself with the R200SS, but there is a VERY fine altostratus and cirrus layer tonight - wasn't even visible till I looked at Jupiter and saw the halo.

Cheers guys, I've been plagued by a bit of wind lately and haven't been able to get out as much as I would like (I need that dome up asap) so finding this data was a nice surprise and a bit of a processing fix

Remarkable indeed, Mike! Looking forward to the fully fledged version.

I plan to get my AG12 set up this week and hopefully I'll be sucking down the photons at a similar rate

Cheers,
Rick.

Yep you will indeed and with an observatory you should be more productive than me too, does your building provide protection from wind?

Alas, I'm a nomadic imager, Mike. It's not worth having an observatory at home due to light pollution and trees obscuring much of the sky. That's why a fast scope is attractive. If I'm lucky I get one or two good nights a month.

Ahhh I see, well in that case yes you have the right scope then, exactly why I got it in the first place too . Thing is, as good as my new place is as far as being dark and with steadier skies, it is quite windy at times so I have let a few clear nights go because of this ...oh well can't have it all, the dome will be a welcomed addition
