Planetary Nebula IC5148 in Grus
Hello everyone Otherwise known as the Spare Tire Nebula, it really is quite colourful. Taken with the 12.5” RCOS, STL11K and AOL guided. It is a tri-colour image consisting of 5.5hrs Ha, 6hrs OIII and 1hr NII. The OIII and Ha were as strong as one another so I balanced out the processing to reveal features of both emissions. The NII on the other hand was completely different so added some nice detail as part of a synthetic luminance. I love the outer ring of OIII and there is also a very, very faint hint of it at the 11 o'clock position which I have managed to bring out without adding too much noise. There is also part of the OIII 'shell' at the bottom of the nebula also, but to reveal that would have spoiled the image. http://www.martinpughastrophotograph...ges/IC5148.jpg Cheers! Martin

What an interesting set of colours! Love the hard blue shell around the nebula. Its quite something.

Nicely done Martin and the first time I've ever seen that faint outer structure. There's not a hint of it on the LRGB of it that I did a while back.
