NGC3199 the "big banana neb"

Hi all
Took this pic with David Gray from the IAS visit last new moon could do with more Ha which I took last night and will see how it goes.
Nice bit of sky
10" F3.5 20 min each RGB 30 min Ha couldn't decide on a version so thought I would bore you with all of them , its one of the things with CCD you almost have too many choices.

well here is an image of the area with an un-modded Canon 300D..surely you can see the smile..

reminds me of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland

quote

"Well! I've often seen a cat without a grin," thought Alice; "but a grin without a cat! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life!

unquote

PS it was 40 minutes-four 10 minute subs-of exposure to get this much nebulosity...envy you modified DSLR and CCD folks

Boy what a difference. Time to rip that filter off me thinks Narayan.

I like the last one Zane. Seems to me that I can see more detail without being washed out in the Ha (?)

Like them all Zane. You should approach the owners of that famous landmark and offer them naming rights.. actually on a serious note if I were the owner of such (the BB) I would love to display your photo and pretend the heavens did it for me.
