Not for small amateurs scopes. That's suitable for say a 90cm f/5 or an observatory-sized cassegrain, I recall something similar on the Reynolds at Mt Stromlo (that was a 30" f/15).

Having tried a 90cm f/5 it wouldn't even notice an eyepiece like this one.

Sad that so much history was destroyed but this is the housing of that telescope after that fire.
