The Partial Eclipse from Brisbane...

Hello everyone!!

Here are my efforts at capturing the moment - one image is a series of images of the Sun while the other shows some sunlight through the trees over time - very interesting!!

Cheers,
Mario

Larry,

I'm glad you liked them. My favourite image is the one of the crescent suns on the fence - just a wonderful phenomenon which had my sons enthralled!

Cheers,
Mario

I really like the way presented your photos. I was no where near any trees and did not get to see the shadows cast through the trees. Thanks for posting.

I have 115 images taken throughout Brisbane's partial eclipse. I would like to present them in a similar manner that you have as a keepsake.

If you don't mind sharing ... How did you do it?

Stu,

I too had taken multiple images (about 40) but in the end used images taken every 20 minutes. I then used GIMP to montage the images together (selecting each Sun using the elliptical selection tool), adjusting the sizes so that the beginning and end of the eclipse were the smallest and the point of totality (86% I believe in Brisbane) was the largest image. The other images were scaled accordingly, getting larger approaching totality and then smaller until the end. You may or may not have noticed that Suns 1 & 7 are the same size, 2 & 6 are the same size as are Suns 3 & 5.

Does this make sense?!

Cheers,
Mario

PS I've just noticed that Matt Wastell has done a similar thing with resizing the Sun small to big - he did this before me but honest, I didn't copy!!

Thanks Marc - I did try to produce a keep-sake of the event that was funky and artistic!

Matt, it wasn't my original layout but what I first had in mind looked like s**t so I started moving the images around and voila - the final product!! I think it looks like robot arms (Robbie the Robot type from Forbidden Planet) while my wife thinks it looks like two worms!

Cheers,
Mario

Hi Mario, I love what you've done!
You've inspired me to have my first go at doing a collage (I have a ton of shots of Venus transit and this eclipse). I want to do what you did!
I also like how you changed the shading between the two presentations- makes it very interesting. I just love this sooooo much!

Suzy,

Guess what - that was by accident, not design!! Good luck with your montage,

Cheers,
Mario
