Faster than light?

Maybe, just maybe, faster than light speeds aren't so impossible after all. Well, it's worth thinking about, anyway.

Is lightspeed really a limit?

The surprising outcome: with just two assumptions, an extended version of the mathematics for Einstein's special relativity works just as well above the speed of light as below.

Interesting how Special (and General) relativity is a stomping ground for both physicists and mathematicians.

There is actually nothing new to a faster than the speed of light version of special relativity.
Special relativity is a symmetrical theory where one version of the theory has the speed of light as a lower limit rather than the more familiar upper limit.

The term tachyon well known to to Star Trek aficionados originates from this theory.

Steven
