Horizontal lines on Jupiter

Hi all,

When capturing Jupiter with neximage at 10 fps or faster I get horizontal lines on screen of laptop; and last night the lines were still visible after Registax processing.

Any advice greatfully recieved.

That's an incredible looking image (though a bit dim). I can't see any horizontal lines?

Can you brighten the image to try and show them better?

Can you post a raw frame?

Did you have the same "setup" as usual? I'd imagine it's some sort of interference from some other electrical/magnetic device nearby.

Hi Mike,

the only other electical device is the power controller for the RA motor=110volt 60 hz. It converts 12v to 110ac.

Hey Lester, I got horizontal lines when using the neximage with too much gain or gamma. It's more sensitive to this than the Phillips sp900nc I'm now using, though even this get's them (though their diagonal lines on this one) when I push too hard. Try increasing your exposure time - say from from 1/33rd to 1/20th sec - and reduce gain and see if it helps.

cheers,

Can you post a raw frame?

I took your image above into AstraImage and split into R/G/B, and it does look pretty messy.. almost looks like jpeg compression artifacts though.

What software are you using for capture? WHat settings did you use for gain/gamma in this avi?

How big is the zipped up avi? Is there a chance you could upload it (or email it to me) so I can have a look and play (if you'd like)?

Hi Mike,

The capture is Amcap which came with the neximage. The gain=40% and gamma=50%. The original=900kb. I will try and send you one.

Mike,

How do I attach a image to a email? I typed in message at your email but there is nowhere to attach image.

Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Hi Lester.

The 900kb is one raw frame - the avi must surely be 200-300 mb?

Can you zip up the avi? How big is it?

You can't email attachments through the forum, you'd have to send it via your own email. The zipped up avi might be too big for email though..
