A tail of a PN

I was inspired by the recent work of Travis Rector with a 4 meter on this old planetary HFG1 (PK 136+4.1) and wanted to give it a try. This old planetary nebula surrounds a precataclysmic binary system (V664 Cas). It is leaving a wake of shocked emission as it moves through the ISM.

This was one of the hardest images I have processed as some the very faint and ghostly structures were barely above background.

Thanks for taking the time to look . . .
Kindest Regards,

A wonderful image Ken.

The zoom function really lets you close in on the small details.

Remarkable image Ken!

Certainly worth all those hours for a result like this, like the zoom function too.

Cheers,

Justin.

Well it may have been one of the hardest you've processed Ken but you've done a great job with it. A top notch image.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks for the kind words! It is a very interesting object that I had to throw eveything I knew at it. Of course that only took a few minutes

Tom, I saw your APOD just the other day! Outstanding! . . .

Sure, my uncropped FOV with the u16m is 29 arc/minutes. My image scale at 4300mm FL with this image is .44 arc/pix.

I did crop that image just a bit in width down to about 25 arc/minutes wide and 28 tall.

Kindest Regards,

It's always great to have a little known object to explore. Thanks for the view Ken.
