CS5's Content Aware is magical. Worth upgrading for that alone

For astrophotography, no.

All your standard tools: levels, curves, saturation, filters, etc., are all there.

CS6 is excellent. Better mask handling, HDR support, automation tools etc.

You'd get more gain for less money by going to PixInsight.

Later relesases of ACR for newly released cameras are usually only availablein the latest release, not that much of an issue if you combine with Canons DPP software.

I used CS6 trial. Loved it.

Content aware tools are fantastic over CS3.

Panorama stitching is also greatly improved over CS3 but not sure if its been improved over CS4.

Vibrance tool was added in CS4 (not that great).

Interface is different.

You can edit time lapses in CS6 and add a soundtrack. I think that is new to CS6 and I found that very handy and easy compared to Lightroom.

So for my use I found it the best tool for processing time lapses.

Greg.

Does the latest PS version have more processing functions for 32 bit files, for instance after they come out of DSS? At present I have to convert them to 16 bit.

I can't live without the vibrance tool.

It is indispensable for me.

LOL Humayun

I do like one feature that wasn't available back then, and that is SmartObjects. I use Photoshop to stack my lunar images with, and stacking with SmartObjects is an intuitive and reasonably powerful way to do this. Other than that, I find little else of value in the later versions and now use Pixelmator for web-destined work instead and PixInsight for the rest.
