Mt Maroon vista

Not many people know Ansel Adams visited SE Qld in the 50s to shoot B&W in the Mt Barney region. Well, ok, he didn't - but I thought this Sunday snap was more interesting in B&W.

Canon 450D, Takumar 28mm/f2.8 k-mount lens, ISO 100, 1/50th sec, not sure what the aperture ended up at - something at the small end. I've learned lots in last few weeks playing with manual lenses (like how to get fill-in flash firing for portraits in shadows while the kids were playing). Just another 10,000 photos to go to complete my education supposedly....!

Trying to capture that feeling that you want to wander through the cows, then explore over the next hill, then up into the trees and beyond...

Your right it does give that feeling that you want to wander over the hills and see what's there.

Mount Sharp?????? maybe a shot from a few thousand ( x100 ????) years ago.

Thanks guys and girl. The Takamur lens isn't the "SMC" (super multi coated) variant, and the colours out in the distance got a bit bland in the afternoon shadows. That got me thinking about B&W to improve the contrast.
Felt like something you might see in an old pub out west of Rocky somewhere....

I'm happy with it 'cause it captures a happy moment roaming around with the family on a Sun most
If I win the lotto this would be a good spot for an astronomers retirement home.

Hey thanks for that Humayun. Thought I was being a bit presumptuous putting stuff up in such good company, but appreciate the encouragement to experiment.
