Centaurus A galaxy - NGC 5128

Hello everyone,

Here's an image I did of the galaxy NGC 5128 in Centaurus. Again this image is with the new Baader UV/IR cut filter on the modified Canon 300D. You can see how the sky background is close tp black - this is a result of the new filter.

There's a higher resolution image here http://www.skylab.com.au/pmsa/ngc5128b.html

Hi Paul

Magnificent image. The filter certainly seems to ehance the contrast. It is interesting that you said the background is close to black. I didn't think so by looking at it. So I took some measurements. In fact the background is around levels 20 to 30, with a slight blue cast. Just how you want it to be. Not black at all (that would mean clipped ).

Cheers

yes theres a wealth of detail in the dust lane, and some dark globs in the inner halo.
