Here is the first of my completed full disk H-alpha images.
I'm a little disappointed as I do get better results with the AP155 setup in my Sydney Observatory...but, hey, too long a time to wait for a re-shoot

I-pad friendly at around 50% res.

i found that the seeing we had in Nyngan was horrible - distorting the suns limb by heaps, so as to the surface i found it made the centre of my sun " soft" . Yours looks pretty darn good!

Still a nice effort Peter and appearance to mine is different. Our etalon settings are I think at opposite ends. I like this look but it removes some of the finer detailed filagree what I like. On the other hand my etalon setting tends to make the image look a little patchy. How many panels did you use for the mosaic?

Hello Paul...yes I found tuning the filter to be a bugger as I could barely see my laptop screen in the sunshine...never a problem in the dome!

...there is however some *really* fine structure in my image that you can't see in this 50% res web image...the original is over 4200 pixels wide....I did various sized mosaics, this one was 12 panel.

I think doing a 12 panel makes for a more even view of the structures, doing a six panel leaves one side of the image with softer structure and the other side containing the sharp structure I want.

Out of interest what program are you using to compile the mosaics? Photoshop or something else?

Yep it's tough trying to get multiple panels to look consistent. I use CS5.5

Peter this is another great result. The consistency between panels just escapes me and I shy away from the task. I'd be very pleased with either version.

I like the latest version. Just one slight panel join visible as a faint line on the top right area. Consistency of the panels is great. Really nice texture too. Not keen on the colour though. Personal choice though between what we both like.

Great detail, although I personally like a more gold look rather than the browner hues.
Really beautiful details, I've spent the past hour soaking it all up.
