LX80 first shipment went out TODAY!!!!

Looks like meade have got there new baby hitting stores today w00t, I don't think we will see them for a bit though.

Good news , but its about time ... I wonder how long untill they arrive on our shores ?
But I for one are really looking forward to reading a few reviews on these , they look typically , well? ,,, Meade cool .

Same here dieing to see how the rack up against the eq5/6 and other mounts. Looks like a great mount going through the user manual anyhow, doesn't look poorly built and looks tough. I think it will give the ioptron cubes a good run for the money, just preying for some good eq usage and it could be meades greatest money maker yet. Will keep an eye out and post as soon as the reviews hit with links.

I'm seriously considering a 10"LX80, They seem cheap enough at $2700 but i'd love to hear from someone who has one first,,Why would they be $800 cheaper than a 10"LX90acf,,,

The LX90 is one of Meade's more reliable products - a well known scope which is likely to perform well out of the box. The LX80 is built to a lower price point and could easily be less reliable. Meade also charges more for the ACF vs standard SC optics.

Later this year Skywatcher is releasing an alt/az version of the EQ6 mount which is going to be more expensive than the LX80 but likely more reliable too.
