Easter Show recommendations?

Sometime this next week I will be "forced" to taken my loving children to the Sydney Royal Easter Show...

I am looking for any and all recommendations/words of advice/avoidance available. I am especially keen to hear of any "secrets" to make the long day more enjoyable...

My two kids are both boys, ages (almost) 5 and 8...

Thansk!

There's no family passes, just single tickets.

Food and drinks are very expensive at the show.
Take something with you if possible.

If you plan to stay till late for the fireworks then dress warmly.

Showbag hall is a rip off but the kids love it. Goes without saying.

Kids also love the shooting galleries, golf games, clown games etc.
Gets expensive using the coupons, some places accept cash for these.

Live animal section is great for the kids, they'll have fun in there.

If you drive, try and park as close as possible to the entrance of the show.
Also pay for the car park once you get there cos later when you leave everyone else is trying to pay too. It's a flat fee so better to pay ahead.

from memory our order of the day was
the animal and exhibit pavilions
showbag hall (to see what was good value) - allowed to buy two bags each to see us through the day
woodchop arena around lunch time(lunch before or after - depended on event times)
more exhibits and the rides and sideshows
late afternoon back to the showbag hall to buy rest of bags
then it was finding a spot in one of the stands to see the arena events of the nite
send someone out for the hot dogs and chips and drinks - whatever for tea
then settle in

We survived the trek to the show...and as usual got a few too many showbags!!

Only real disappointment was in the evening show at the arena...we were not able to get seats (in fact, we were not even let into the seating area)...not sure what the deal was but many many people were in the same boat.

The fireworks were still pretty good, even from outside!
