NGC 3628 Collaboration 7" apo meets 9" apo

Hi guys!

we are happy to crank out another image (-:...right out of the easter-box ...

It certainly is a most frequently imaged galaxy for sure. So this lifts p the
level of expectation a lot. we strongly hope, we do not disappoint.
anyway, we had quite fun in acquiring and processing the data, that was a bit difficult this time, as for several technical reasons, we had a bit of a mess with the raw data.
preprocessing was a bit tough.
Also it is an interesting collaboration in equipment: SBIGmeets Starlight Xpress. Sbig 4022 collected luminance, and a quite some RGB. but much of the color data comes from ym beloved M25C starlight xpress CCD.

well, we are quite content with the result.
hope these feelings are mutual...?

It's one of the sharpest images I've ever seen of NGC 3628.
I didn't know TMB sold a 9" folded APO?

yeah, that's right.
we had a couple issues with the raw data this time.
preprocessing gave a pretty hard time.

Stunning image Dietmar, and a new take on such a frequently seen object. I just enjoyed taking it all in for a long time. So many details to drink in that aren't normally visible or obvious, and to me that is the mark of a wonderful thought provoking image.

I found myself trying to image what it would like to gradually swing around and over the plan of the galaxy is all looks so lifelike and the tidal stream are captured wonderfully.

Fascinating reading about your work getting the 9" apo sorted too. Congrats on such a great outcome for all your work on this image and thanks for sharing with us.

Sublime image. Love the detail in the dust lane. Sharp and very nicely coloured. The tidal stream looks pretty nice too. Overall a lovely image and one I would be most please with.

Great shot Dietmar. Very interesting scope. Looks complicated anf fiddly.

Oveall a great shot but most of the stars are overexposed and are all white with no colour.

Perhaps a mask on the stars early on in the processing when heavy stretching was applied to protect them may help.
