OK, I'll kick things off.

This photo was taken last year, but when I saw the topic of railway, I couldn't but help to think back to my rocky mountaineer trip So many pics for me to choose from but I have chosen this one.

I am on the bottom train in one of the last carriages as it snakes around the corner and past a tunnel (and with some luck an emerging train) on a higher level.

Up close and personal - Spring Bluff just below Toowoomba.
Just after refurbishment - the flood went through here and tore a huge hole in the line - All is well now

Well I'll go a more modern route with one of my favorite trains that I've ridden on.

It's been a while since the last train pulled in to this station down on the Monaro Plains. You can find it on the Snowy River Way between Bombala abd Dalgety.

Straight from the camera, resized only.

Cheers,
Jason.

Completed in 1891, the Cairns-Kuranda Railway was, and still is, an amazing engineering feat of tremendous magnitude.
The ascent was extremely arduous and dangerous due to steep grades, dense jungle and aboriginals defending their territory.
The climb from 5.5m above sea level to the summit at Myola with an altitude of 327.1m, included 15 tunnels, 93 curves and dozens of difficult bridges above ravines and waterfalls.
