Flaming star nebula

Not sure how much interest there is in these northern objects but here's another one anyway. This is the Flaming Star nebula in Auriga, one of the iconic northern objects. It's quite faint and needs a lot of data. I probably need more but it's starting to get a bit low now.

Not 100% happy with my processing. To me it looks a bit too electric but whatever I did it seemed to come out this way.

Cheers

Steve

The last time i went and tried to capture this from Perth, it was a write off in saying that i didn't try to get it with a cooled CCD just a DSLR.

You have done well to capture it!

Thanks Brendan. I probably should make it clear that this was from a telescope in Arizona.

Thanks Marcus. I've since replaced it with a version that is a little less "in your face" but it still doesn't resemble the web versions very closely.

I like the wavy Ha, this composition looks similar to the shot in US S and T recently and I thought that was very effective. The blue looks monochrome for some reason and does not seem to be blended correctly. Been having some trouble like this myself with a project I am working on at present. It must be something to do with the blends in your shot. I think potentially this could be a show stopper but getting that blue under control will be a necessity for it to happen.

Thanks Paul and I agree with your comments because the blue just doesn't look quite right. I've tried numerous different ways of blending and they all come out looking similar. I will continue working on it until I get bored and move on to something else.

A lovely image Steve.

This is one that I haven't seen much of. I like the depth of field in it and I enjoyed the colour.

Cheers

Yes the blue looks odd but that is how it is often shown in other people's images of it so it probably isn't a processing error.

A bit more contrast and colour strength may help in the other colours though.

It must be nice to capture something different.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. You know I actually toned the colour down because someone said it looked too psychodelic so I suppose it's a matter of taste. Yes it's nice seeing these unfamiliar objects. I'm collecting data for m82 right now.

Thanks Mike. Actually you probably could image it from Canberra. I managed to do M38 many years ago and it's quite near that.
