Saturn 1st March

G'day.

Couple of images from this morning in variable seeing.

Slightly different colour schemes just to keep it somewhat interesting.

C11/DBK618 @ F20 + 140% resize.

A very nice capture, not sure which colour scheme I prefer. The first seems to show more detail in the rings, while the second is better for the cloud bands on the planet.

Would be happy just to see the sky here. Looks like clouds for another couple days.

I agree Ivan re the colours (prefer the second for natural looks), and ditto with the weather

Thanks all.

Jen it takes patience, & lots of it. Of course, it's easier than DSO imaging. All I need is a 3 min hole in the clouds to get enough Saturn data for an image. In this case, I had a 6 min hole.

How many frames and what framerate John?

I haven't even had a single hole in the clouds at night since I can remember.

Is your cat cooled? Those are really lovely.

Thanks all.

Peter, 3.5 min captures 30FPS. Not cooled no. I stow the OTA it in a specially prepared dehumidified room, which actually keeps everything 8-10 degrees above ambient. If I want to image I'll setup at least 3-4 hrs before, stoke the pedestal fan up & walk away.

Thanks Ray. Pretty pleased with these two I must say. They are actually combo stacks from AS!2 & Registax. Long story but you can read about that in another forum.

Dear asimov,
May I publish one of your recent images of Saturn in Universe magazine (ASNSW) please?
