i gave it a whirl last night before the moon came up.
very cool. it's good with the mega wide field of view to just lazily push the scope around (especially in lmc/smc). kinda like looking through a very big window and you just see all sorts of stuff drift by.
I can't really imagine I'll use anything more than the 13mm and 7mm from now on.
I was pondering one of these for next year too - is it worth a review given your the first person I know to start using one?
There are others on here too who have the Ethos.
Rod (Rodstar) and I think Geoff (Starkler) have it and love it.
Check out Rod's thread.
John Banberry (ausastronomer) has had extensive use of one (at the Texas Star Party with Al Nagler). He now is in possesion of one as well and has written a mini report in his threads.
Do a search for John's threads.
I suppose it won't be long before a proper review will be written up.
John Bambury and Iceman did a review of the 13mm T6 Nagler, the 14mm Pentax XW and 14mm Meade 4000 series Ultra Wide about 18+ months ago on IIS. It would be interesting if they did a Part II report to bring the Ethos into the equation.
At the end of the day, part of any review of the Ethos would be a comparison with the aforementioned alternative eyepieces at that same focal length.
Gavin, how did you find the Ethos performed on Mars? I have been extremely impressed by on axis performance....really as good as any planetary eyepiece I have used.

I didn't try mars as it was still quite low when I was out but i might try tonight.
At snake valley a proud new ethos owner came over to my truss dob hoping to bribe me with it for a look through my scope. It worked
I got to spend a good hour using it but sadly it is not mine.
That was my new baby. I'd brought the bino to Snake Valley & not my 14" so it was temporarily orphaned. I knew I'd find someone willing to take it off my hands for a bit.
I have had it for just over three months now, & enjoyed every session with it. It is just a great all-around eyepiece.
