Jupiter's rotation animation

Hi all.

Here's a 16-frame animation of Jupiter from Sunday mornings data.

Unfortunately about half of the frames aren't as good quality as the other half (due to fluctuating seeing), but it still looks pretty cool.

You can even see how the middle latitudes rotate quicker than the high north or high south latitudes, giving Jupiter it's oblate shape.. you can see it by concentrating on some of the small storms in different belts and zones and watching how fast they rotate in relation to each other.

The animation was created in Jasc Animation Shop 3.

It's a 577k animated GIF and you can download it here:

Thanks for looking, and comments welcome!

Excellent work Mike. The animation really brings the orbital dynamics to life.

Excellent animation Mike, thanks for going to the trouble... I know they take lots of time to put together.

Bluddy Brilliant Mike, best animation I've seen. Should submit this one to spaceweather.com

You should be over the moon (Ganymede of course).

Must find out how to do this one day.

cheers,
