you know when your pushing it uphill when.....

I have to say i am really struggling with light pollution this weekend. As you can see the next door neighbours are an illuminating lot......i really hope that they settle down and put blinds on the windows real soon. they just moved in. I am trying to reimage ngc253 tonight, its calm but the dog track is on - i know they will be off in an hour, but next door is another problem.....

I was so spoilt at duckadang this year - 10 days of dark skies - it was even dark with the crescent moon the last two nights there......i am just venting and dreaming of a dark christmas.......

Well Lostock is in 4 weeks.......

Hey Houghy, it lights up your observatory nicely.

People pay a lot of money for outdoor lighting on special features. You are getting it for free

sorry mate

Think of the up-side - you could use it for taking flats!

I sympathise Dave. The best thing I did was move out of town.

Pity you can't buy remote control triggers for earth leakage circuit breakers...

Wow, they're lighting up the whole suburb by the looks of it!

Maybe invite them over for some viewing and show them what their lights are doing, throw a bbq or something and get to know them and maybe they'll realise their "ignorance" and be a bit more in tune with your nightly habits?

Geez Houghy that's a bugger. Well seeing as they just moved in hopefully it won't be too long before they do get blinds.
An idea might be to collect as many blind and curtain junk mail brochures and bombard their mailbox everyday with them and hope they give in or get the hint.
My neighbour also has two spotlights that they usually leave on all night which are pointing too high and straight into my backyard so one night when I know they are out I might have to jump the fence and adjust them to point down a little.

Cheers Daniel.

Rear Window

This has the makings of a Hitchcock thriller.
Careful what you observe Houghy.

The house looks sooooo close to the back fence. It must be a tiny block of land .
